Acupuncture for back pain

A recent survey suggests that eight out of ten people will suffer from back pain at some point during their life. New scientific research shows that when certain acupuncture points are needled this triggers a hormonal response which affects pain patterns in the brain. These hormones, endorphins and serotonin have a soothing and calming effect on the body.

On a personal level it causes a lot of grief and anxiety and prevents people from going about their daily lives. It also costs businesses millions in lost work days and puts a strain on the NHS.

Back pain is one of the most common conditions we treat at Wellpoint. This can range from neck and shoulder pain to low back pain and sciatica. We go through a detailed consultation to determine what is happening for each patient and then provide treatment tailored to the individual patient.

Generally after the first visit you should see some improvements, although this does depend on other factors too, such as age, length of time of the condition, overall health and lifestyle.
