What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture, which originated in ancient China more than 2,000 years ago, is one aspect of traditional Chinese medicine and is used for a wide range of ailments. It’s based on the belief that our body has meridians through which our energy (life force) flows. However, these meridians can become blocked or out of balance, resulting in illness or pain. Acupuncturists place very thin, sterile needles into acupuncture points along the meridian lines. The needles help unblock or balance out the body’s energy, which promotes the body’s ability to heal itself.
Whether you need help with a specific issue, or simply want to improve your energy levels, acupuncture is a pain-free, safe treatment that has solid evidence-based research for many conditions.
